5 Refreshing Summer Smoothies That Will Help You Lose Weight And Stay Hydrated

Refreshing Summer Smoothies

The hot summer days call for frosty sips. But gulping down artificially sweetened beverages can increase your waistline and risk of certain health conditions. Frequently consuming sugar-sweetened beverages has been linked to an increased risk of weight gain, obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, tooth decay, and certain cancers, etc.

Even low-calorie sweetened beverages, often referred to as ‘diet’ or ‘sugar-free’ drinks, don’t help you cut calories. In fact, a new research published in the journal Pediatric Obesity found that kids and teenagers who consumed diet beverages ended up having about the same number of calories as their peers who drank sugary beverages.

The study also showed that children and teens who reported drinking low-calorie sweetened beverages like diet sodas not only ingested extra calories compared with water drinkers, but they also consumed more calories from added sugars in foods and beverages. The findings challenge the utility of diet sodas or low-calorie sweetened drinks when it comes to reducing calories and weight management. However, you can try some alternate healthy drinks that are easy to prepare and can be made at the convenience of your home. Nutritionist and wellness coach Janvi Chitalia suggests five cold and flavourful combinations that are great for your weight loss and will help you get through the season feeling happy and refreshed.
